It was the late Jaroslav Pelikan that reminded us that Theology is what the church believed, teaches and confesses based upon the word of God. Some feel that Theology is too formidable of a word that it is too abstract, technical, esoteric and irrelevant to the man on the street. But theology was written by relevant men who lived out their lives and died on the street in a culture that was less than hospitable to its Creator.
It is the prescient and present David Dockery who reminds us that Scripture is the foundation, Christ is the center, and the church is our focus as we seek to influence a culture that is our mission field. And thus, the creeds, the confessions and the catechisms are codified into Theology. An explanation of the revelation of God to man.
Although it is essential to understand the truth of theology as Donald Bloesch suggested, it is vital that evangelical theology aim not only to be faithful to scripture but also to explore the unfaithfulness of the Christian community to scripture.
Grace Theology Press is committed to examine and evaluate “theologies” – our own and others – in order to “Know Christ and make Him Known”.
Serving Him with you until He comes for us,
